Hibiscus Iced Tea

Learn how to make hibiscus tea which has some amazing benefits. Make this with either fresh or dried flowers and choose to have it as a hot cup of tea or as hibiscus iced tea because either way it’s delicious and really good for you.

Ingredients

  • 1 Tea Bag of Chai Bora African Infusions Hibiscus Tea
  • 8 cups Water
  • ¼ cup Honey add more if you like your tea sweeter
  • 3 tablespoons Fresh Lime Juice

Instructions

  1. Bring the Hibiscus Tea and water to a boil in a large pot. Once the water starts boiling, switch off the flame and cover the vessel. At this point, you can also add other herbs or add ins such as basil, lemon grass, lemon zest etc. Let the tea steep for 15-20 minutes. Mix in the honey and lime juice till completely combined. Strain the tea.
  2. Put the tea in the fridge to cool and serve with ice.
  3. Garnish with Lemon & Mint

Warm Dawa Tea

When you are feeling under the weather or fluish, make yourself a cup of the soothing Dawa Tea to warm you up. 

Ingredients

  • 1 Chai Bora African Infusions Ginger Tea
  • 1 Cup of Water
  • 1 Cinnamon Stick
  • Cloves
  • Lemon Juiced
  • 1 Tablespoon Honey

Instructions:

  1. Add 1 cup of water into a pan on the stove and bring to boil 
  2. Add your Chai Bora African Infusions Ginger Tea Bag (remove before serving)
  3. Next, add your cinnamon stick and clove seeds. They will not dissolve, but the rich flavour will get infused into the tea. It can be very strong, so do not forget to strain it out before serving.
  4. Simmer this for 5 minutes, allowing the flavours to be released and come together perfectly. 
  5. After 5 minutes, you can add your lemon juice. It brings some citrusy flavour and acidity to the drink, creating balance. 
  6. Lastly, add the tablespoon of honey. Honey will add sweetness and is both healthier and easier to blend in then sugar. 
  7. Pour into a cup and enjoy while hot! 

Iced tea

Want to make your own iced tea at home? All you need is black tea bags, water and sugar 

  • Step one:  Bring 4 cups of water to a simmer, then add 6 tea bags and turn off the heat. Steep for 5 minutes.
  • Step two (optional): Remove the tea bags and stir in ⅓ cup sugar until it dissolves.
  • Step three: Add 4 cups of cool water and bring to room temperature (about 10 minutes).
  • Step four: Transfer your tea to a pitcher and refrigerate for 2 hours.

And just like that, your tea is ready to be served! If you want that extra coldness, serve with ice cubes. .

Mint Julip tea

For this refreshing cold spicy tea perfect for a sunny day, you will need 1 cup white sugar,

1 cup water, 4 tea bags, ½ cup chopped fresh mint, 2 quarts cold water, 1 cup orange juice and 6 tablespoons lemon juice.

  • Step one: Bring sugar and 1 cup water to a boil in a small saucepan, stirring until sugar dissolves, about 5 minutes. 
  • Step two: Add tea bags and mint to sugar mixture, let steep for 10 minutes. 
  • Step three: Strain the mixture and discard tea bags and mint.
  • Step four: Combine your tea mixture with cold water, orange juice, and lemon juice in a pitcher.

Peach and Lemon tea

A perfect mix of flavours so refreshing, you can’t not want a glass of this on a hot afternoon! 

To make your own you will need : 4 black tea bags, 1 chopped lemon, 2 chopped peaches, 4 cups boiling water, 1 litre of lemonade and 1/4 cup of roughly chopped mint.

  • Step one: Place tea bags, lemon and peaches into a large heatproof jug
  • Step two: Pour boiling water into the jug, and leave to cool. Strain and chill.
  • Step three: Transfer your tea mixture into a serving jug with lemonade.
  • Step four: Cut lemon and peaches into thin wedges and add to the jug, along with mint leaves. 

Serve over ice, and there you have your peach and lemon tea!

Black tea

This traditional hot tea recipe is so rich in antioxidants and has plenty of healthy benefits. It is simple and easy to make. What you will need is black tea bags, water and sugar.

  • Step one: Bring one cup of fresh water to a rolling boil.
  • Step two: Add 1 tea bag and steep for 3 to 5 minutes. The longer you steep, the stronger the flavor. Stir before removing the tea bag.
  • Step three: Add a sweetener of your choice, and you are good to go.
